Rustic Barn Wedding in Sweetwater TX | Abilene TX Wedding Photographer
Happy October, friends! The best time of year has officially begun and I cannot wait to start decorating for Halloween and then Christmas, eek! My sister makes fun of me every year around this time because Halloween decorations go up and they seem to never be put away. I’ll be decorating for Christmas and still have the hay bales and pumpkins out, haha!
In addition to decorations, I’m looking forward to the temperature dropping. Lord knows how hot Texas gets, am I right? I know we were hopeful to scorch Covid-19 to death but no such luck. So, here’s to hoping temperatures in the 40’s and 50’s will lift our spirits in these trying times. Grab a blanket, a pumpkin spice latte, and a good book. Curl up in a comfy corner and enjoy your day!
In remembrance of summer, I have some beautiful images to share from a wedding I documented for Savannah and Toby Falcon on July, 25, 2020. I met Lori, Toby’s mother, at a wedding pop-up show at the gorgeous Sabrina Cedars in January. Lori brought her friend Vicki to gather ideas and look at some options the Abilene community had as far as wedding vendors go. I remembered meeting her at the show and was so happy to hear from her later on. Come to find out, she’s a pretty famous blogger – A Cowboy’s Wife! If you check out her blog, you’ll see she’s met several celebrities – pretty cool, right? I was super excited to be a part of her family’s big day.
Toby grew up in Sweetwater but both he and Savannah live in College Station. They came up to his hometown to celebrate the starting of their lives together as well as many of their family and friends. We all had a lot of fun and the day was very relaxed as the girls got their hair and makeup done while the guys cut up in the barn. There were many touching moments in the day but my favorite moments of the day were when Lori and Rooster opened their special boxes from Savannah, the first look for Savannah’s grandfather, and Lori getting emotional as Savannah and Toby joined hands at the altar (I certainly tried to capture the moment but she gathered herself too quickly!). The couple also used their brand symbol at the ceremony which was something new and special for me to witness.
It was very hot during the ceremony, I won’t lie. I think the high that day was 100 degrees. The sun was against my back, not a cloud in the sky. Thank goodness for second photographers and water as I was very close to heat exhaustion. Luckily, things went well and we were ready to begin the reception!
Delicious barbecue was served in the barn and once everyone got their belly full of food it was time to celebrate with dancing into the night. Savannah changed into the cutest cowgirl get up I’ve ever seen for dancing and the send off. I’ll link the video their amazing videographer provided of the day as it gave me goosebumps all over again.
Enjoy the blog as I prepare for the busiest month of the year, I’ll have several more sessions to share with you soon! Please stay happy and healthy friends. Chat soon!
